Gold deposit located in Banswara and Udaipur, Geologists Report

Scientists and geologists confirmed the astonishing figure, and experts claimed that the deposits are located mostly in the cities of Banswara and Udaipur of Rajasthan. The exploration by Geological Survey of India (GSI) has revealed that the deposits of gold are 114.78 MT in Bhukia- Dagocha area. Speaking to reporters, Director General of the GSI department N Kutumba Rao said,”The work of exploration of gold and copper in other areas like Kamalpura, Neem Ka Thana and Mundiawas Kheda area is also going on.”

This is not the first time the region has yielded essential minerals. Rajasthan has provided around 80 million tonnes of copper till date, and the Thar Desert yields approximately 1.7 lakh barrels of crude oil on a daily basis, apart from having a high concentration of rare earth elements, as reported by the Times of India, almost two years ago. Rare earth elements are a set of 17 chemicals which occur naturally in trace quantities and are in great demand in the nuclear and space sector, energy, defence, chemicals and electronics industries.

GRAM 2017 in Udaipur from 7 to 9 November 2017

Rajasthan State Cabinet in its meeting on 4th October took various important decisions including organization of GRAM 2017 in Udaipur from November 7 to 9, organising campaign to provide lease in rural areas, generating new posts of ECG Technician and Boiler Attendant. The cabinet also reviewed the works done in second phase of MJSA and workplan for the third phase of MJSA. The Cabinet Meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje.  Briefing the media after the cabinet meeting Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Rajendra Rathore informed that after successful organization of GRAM in Jaipur and Kota (24-26 May 2017) the third GRAM will be held at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology, Udaipur where 30 thousand farmers will learn the innovations made in Agriculture sector. Shri Rathore said the Cabinet also gave approval to the proposal related to start campaign to provide lease for houses built on the government land in rural areas. 

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister informed that six Bills shall be presented in the coming session of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. The Rajasthan State Electricity Distribution Management Responsibility Bill-2017, The Rajasthan Land Revenue Amendment and Validation (Repeal) Bill-2017, The Rajasthan Relief Undertakings (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Bill-2017, The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Members (Prevention of Disqualification) Bill-2017, The Code of Criminal Procedure (Rajasthan Amendment) Bill-2017 and The Criminal Laws (Rajasthan Amendment) Bill-2017 shall be presented in the coming Assembly session.

PM lays foundation stone for several major highway projects at Udaipur

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today inaugurated, and laid the foundation stone, of several major highway projects at Udaipur in Rajasthan. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said he is delighted to be in the "Veer Bhumi" of Mewar. The Prime Minister assured people affected by natural calamities, that the Union Government stood by them at this hour of difficulty, and expressed confidence that the people would overcome the challenges, and march forward with even greater vigour.

The Prime Minister said that projects worth over 15000 crore are either being Inaugurated, or initiated (foundation stone being laid) today, in a single function. The Prime Minister said that infrastructure projects are crucial to the progress of the country. He said India can no longer afford delay in infrastructure projects, especially connectivity projects. He said projects such as roads, infuse new energy in the lives of the people. The Prime Minister recalled the Golden Quadrilateral initiated by former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and said it benefited farmers by connecting them to markets. He said Rajasthan could benefit a lot from tourism, through better infrastructure connectivity, which would bring in employment.

The Prime Minister spoke about the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, under which LPG connections are being given to rural households, which will especially benefit women. The Prime Minister said GST had hugely benefited the nation's economy, by eliminating long waiting times at inter-state borders. The Prime Minister later visited the Pratap Gaurav Kendra, which celebrates the life, valour and achievements of Maharana Pratap, the great King of the erstwhile kingdom of Mewar.

नदी में बहे कुशलगढ़ एसडीओ की बॉडी मिली

बाँसवाड़ा जिले में शुक्रवार सुबह कुशलगढ़ उपखण्ड अधिकारी के वाहन सहित बह जाने के प्रकरण में हादसे के 48 घंटों के बाद रविवार को सुबह एसडीओ रामेश्वरदयाल की बॉडी मिली।  रविवार को सुबह एनडीआरएफ व एसडीआरएफ दल तथा स्थानीय गोताखोरों के दल व ग्रामीणों को मिलाकर सैकड़ों लोगों ने सर्च ऑपरेशन शुरू किया था कि ग्रामीणों द्वारा नदी के बहाव क्षेत्र में 10 किलोमीटर दूरी पर एसडीओ की बॉडी दिखाई देने की सूचना प्राप्त हुई। इस पर पुलिस व प्रशासनिक अधिकारी मौके पर पहुंचे और बॉडी को निकलवाया गया। इसके बाद कलक्टर श्री भगवीप्रसाद, एसपी श्री कालूराम रावत भी मौके पर पहुंचे और परिजनों से बात करते हुए शव को पोस्टमार्टम के लिए भिजवाया गया।

BJP govt insensitive towards farmers: Sachin Pilot

Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot Wednesday accused the BJP-ruled states of being “insensitive” towards farmers and suppressing their voice. “In the last few days, farmers demanded relief from the governments in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. But, instead of paying heed to their demands, they killed them with bullets,” he said in a statement. Accusing the BJP governments in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh were neglecting the farmers’ issues, Pilot said about 60 farmers in Rajasthan have committed suicide due to the lack of government support or crop damage.

Meanwhile in recent development Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi climbed on a bike today as his convoy was stopped near Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur, where farmer protests have escalated over the death of five in police firing on Tuesday. Mr Gandhi first flew down to Udaipur in adjoining Rajasthan and drove from there. At a spot where heavy police presence was seen, the Congress leader was seen jumping onto a bike to try and reach Mandsaur. A crowd of Congress workers, journalists and policemen could be seen chasing the bike for some distance. Sachin Pilot, the Rajasthan Congress chief, also drove off in another bike.

Cabinet approves 10 new atomic reactors, including 4 in Mahi Banswara

Union cabinet on 17th May cleared a proposal to indigenously build 10 atomic reactors, the largest ever approval granted for such facilities in one go. Once completed, the 10 reactors of 700 MW each will give much needed fillip to the domestic nuclear industry. The Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) will be developed by the Department of Atomic Energy. India currently has installed nuclear power capacity of 6780 MW from 22 operational plants. Another 6700 MW of nuclear power is expected to be added by 2021-22 when currently under-construction projects go onstream in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.  The ten reactors will be installed in Kaiga in Karnataka (Unit 5 and 6), Chutka in Madhya Pradesh (Unit 1 and 2), Gorakhpur in Haryana (Unit 3 and 4) and Mahi Banswara in Rajasthan (Unit 1, 2, 3 and 4).

This Project will bring about substantial economies of scale and maximise cost and time efficiencies by adopting fleet mode for execution. It is expected to generate more than 33,400 jobs in direct and indirect employment. With manufacturing orders to domestic industry, it will be a major step towards strengthening India’s credentials as a major nuclear manufacturing powerhouse. The ten reactors will be part of India’s latest design of 700 MW PHWR fleet with state-of-art technology meeting the highest standards of safety. The approval also marks a statement of strong belief in the capability of India’s scientific community to build our technological capacities. The design and development of this project is a testament to the rapid advances achieved by India’s nuclear scientific community and industry. It underscores the mastery our nuclear scientists have attained over all aspects of indigenous PHWR technology. India’s record of building and operating PHWR reactors over the last nearly forty years is globally acclaimed.

Kalpit Veerval from Udaipur tops JEE Mains with 100% Score

Kalpit Veerwal from Udaipur, Rajasthan, has topped the Joint Entrance Examination Main 2017 scoring full marks. He topped in the general as well as Scheduled Caste (SC) category. He is the first student to score 360 out of 360. A student of MDS senior secondary school in Udaipur, Kalpit is now awaiting his Class 12 exam results. But his eyes are already set on the next target: the JEE (Advanced) examination for IITs on May 21. The results were declared on 27th April 2017. Click for JEE-Main Result 2017. 

Veerwal’s father works as a compounder at Udaipur’s Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital and his mother is a teacher at a government school. He has an older sibling who is studying at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi. Over 10.2 lakh students had appeared for the exam at 1,781 centres across the country. The examination was held on 2 April (offline) and 8 and 9 April (online). Candidates clearing the JEE-Main will be eligible to appear in the JEE-Advanced exam, 2017. The JEE is conducted for admission to B.Tech, BE and B.Arch programmes offered at IITs, NITs, IIITs and other government-approved engineering institutes.

Venkaiah Naidu reviews Smart Cities of Rajasthan

Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information & Broadcasting, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu reviewed the progress of Smart Cities Mission in four Smart Cities of Rajasthan, namely Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota and Ajmer. 

During the meeting, the Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu said that public participation is the cornerstone for the success of Smart Cities Mission. He said that the Smart City Advisory Forum should meet regularly to advise and enable collaboration among various stakeholders. The Minister said that District Collector, Member of Parliament, Member of Legislative Assembly, Mayor, CEO of Special Purpose Vehicle, etc should take part in the forum. The Members of Parliament representing Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota and Ajmer and the CEOs of Special Purpose Vehicle of four Smart Cities were present during the meeting.

बेणेश्वर धाम में शुरू हुआ 10 दिवसीय मेला

जनजाति क्षेत्रीय विकास मंत्री श्री नंदलाल मीणा ने 7 फ़रवरी को डूंगरपुर जिले में बेणेश्वर मेले का उद्घाटन किया। राजस्थान के दक्षिणांचल में माही, सोम और जाखम नदियों से घिरा बेणेश्वर लोक आस्थाओं का वह महातीर्थ है जहां हर साल माघी एकादशी से दस दिन का विराट मेला लगता है। वागड प्रयाग कहे जाने वाले संत मावजी महाराज के पवित्र धाम तथा त्रिवेणी संगम के मुहाने पर स्थित बेणेश्वर धाम में राजस्थान, मध्यप्रदेश और गुजरात सहित देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों से श्रद्धालु हिस्सा लेते हैं और वागड़ अंचल के मेलार्थियों सहित पांच लाख से ज्यादा मेलार्थी एकत्रित होने की संभावना है। इसमें कई लाख लोगों के आने के कारण इसे इस अंचल के कुंभ की ही तरह मान्यता प्राप्त है। मेले का समापन 15 फरवरी को होगा।

• वेणेश्वर मेला, राजस्थान के डुंगरपुर जिले का प्रसिद्ध मेला है, जिसमें राजस्थान, मध्यप्रदेश और गुजरात के आदिवासी बड़ी संख्या में भाग लेते हैं। 
• यह मेला माघ शुक्ल पूर्णिमा के अवसर पर भील, सोम व माही नदियों के पवित्र संगम पर वेणेश्वर नामक स्थान पर लगता है जो डुंगरपुर से 65 किमी की दूरी पर स्थित है।
• संगम पर डुबकी लगाने के पश्चात भगवान शिव के दर्शन के लिए बेणेश्वर मंदिर जाने को हर कोई बेताब रहता है। 
• बेणेश्वर मंदिर के परिसर में लगने वाला यह मेला भगवान शिव को समर्पित होता है। 
• संगम पर बने इस मंदिर के निकट भगवान विष्णु का भी मंदिर है, जिसके बारे में मान्यता है कि जब भगवान विष्णु के अवतार माव जी ने यहां तपस्या की थी, यह मंदिर उसी समय बना था।

Rajasthan cabinet reshuffle: Vasundhara Raje inducts 6 new ministers

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today inducted 8 new ministers in her government today in her second cabinet expansion after October 2014. Five Parliamentary Secretaries were also appointed separately. The development came on the eve of the Raje government completing 3 years in power. BJP MLAs Srichand Kriplani (Nimbahera) and Jaswant Singh Yadav (Behror) were inducted as Cabinet rank ministers while Banshidhar (Khandela), Dalit face Kamsa Meghwal (Bhoplagarh), Dhan Singh Rawat (Banswara) and Sushil Katara were inducted as State Ministers.   State Ministers Ajay Singh and Baboo Lal Verma were also elevated to Cabinet rank while Jeetmal Khant and Arjun Lal Garg were dropped. The Governor administered oath to the 8 ministers (6 new and 2 elevated) at a ceremony in Raj Bhawan. The council of ministers, apart from the chief minister, now has 29 members with 17 Cabinet and 12 State Ministers. Shatrughan Gautam (Kekri), Kailash Verma (Bagru), Narendra Nagar (Khanpur), Omprakash (Mahwa), and Bhima Bhai (Kushalgarh) were appointed as Parliamentary Secretaries.

उदयपुर में ब्रिक्स देशों के आपदा प्रबंधन मंत्रियों का द्वितीय सम्मेलन शुरू

केन्द्रीय गृह राज्य मंत्री किरेन रिजिजू ने आज उदयपुर में कहा कि गत कुछ दशकों में राष्ट्रीय आपदाओं की संख्या में बढ़ोतरी हुई है। आपदाओं से मानव जीवन और संपत्ति को बड़ा नुकसान होता है। वहीं, ये देश के विकास को भी प्रभावित करती हैं। ऐसे में आपदा प्रबंधन को मजबूती प्रदान करने के लिए ब्रिक्स देशों को आपस में मिलकर एक ऐसी समग्र रणनीति तैयार करनी चाहिए, जिससे कि सतत विकास के मार्ग में प्राकृतिक आपदाएं बाधक नहीं बन सकें एवं जन-धन और सम्पति के नुकसान से बचा जा सके।  केन्द्रीय मंत्री श्री रिजिजू सोमवार को उदयपुर के उदयविलास में आपदा प्रबंधन विषय पर ब्रिक्स मंत्रियों के दो दिवसीय सम्मेलन के शुभारंभ समारोह को संबोधित कर रहे थे। इस मौके पर केन्द्रीय मंत्री श्री रिजिजू ने कहा कि ब्रिक्स देशों में सबसे कम शहरी आबादी भारत में 35 प्रतिशत है, जबकि ब्राजील में 86 प्रतिशत, रूस में 74, चीन में 56, दक्षिण अफ्रीका में 65 प्रतिशत लोग शहरों में रहते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि बढ़ते शहरीकरण, औद्योगिक गतिविधियों के कारण अब आपदाओं का प्रभाव ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों की अपेक्षा शहरों पर ज्यादा रहता है। ऐसे में अब आपदाओं के प्रभावों को रोकने के लिए चिंतन की आवश्यकता है। उन्होंने बताया कि भारत में विगत वर्षों में आपदा प्रबंधन कृषि विभाग द्वारा ही किया जाता रहा था और अब इसके लिए अलग से विभाग बनाया गया है। ऐसे में आपदा प्रबंधन अब ‘गुड गवर्नेंस’ का भाग बन गया है। 

उन्होंने कहा कि आज पूरा विश्व नित नई आपदाओं की मार से जूझ रहा है। लगातार हो रहे शहरीकरण, अनियंत्रित विस्तार, बढ़ती जनसंख्या, प्राकृतिक संसाधनों का मनमाना दोहन इसके प्रमुख कारण हैं। हमें उनसे जूझने का दृष्टिकोण अपनाकर आगे की नीतियां बनानी होंगी। श्री रिजिजू ने बताया कि 1970 से ही जलवायु परिवर्तन पर विश्व भर में चिंता जाहिर की जा रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि हमारी सोच में ही आपदा प्रबंधन होना चाहिए। हम मकानों, शहर की सड़कों, शॉपिंग मॉल, स्कूलों, कॉलेजों और यहां तक कि स्ट्रीट पोल तक को इसी के अनुरूप बनाएं। उन्होंने प्राकृतिक आपदाओं से निपटने के लिए प्राकृतिक आपदा रोधी भवनों के निर्माण का प्रयास करने की आवश्यकता भी जताई।  उन्होंने ब्रिक्स देशों से आह्वान किया कि वे आपदा प्रबंधन की दृष्टि से चुनौतियों को समझें और अपने प्रयासों एवं विशिष्टताओं को साझा करते हुए ऐसी सामूहिक कार्ययोजना बनाएं, जिससे आपदा परिस्थितियों में कम से कम जन-धन का नुकसान हो तथा प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में त्वरित राहत पहुंचाई जा सके। उन्होंने कहा कि इस कार्य में भारत ब्रिक्स देशों के साथ कंधे-से-कंधा मिलाकर खड़ा है। उन्होंने जापान का उदाहरण देते हुए बताया कि प्राकृतिक आपदाओं से निपटने के लिए हमें जापान जैसे देशों के आपदा प्रबंधन से सीख लेनी होगी।

समारोह को संबोधित करते हुए राजस्थान के गृह, आपदा प्रबंधन एवं राहत मंत्री श्री गुलाबचंद कटारिया ने कहा कि आपदा देश-काल की सीमाओं में बंधी नहीं है, यह एक चुनौती है जिसका मुकाबला करते हुए अधिकाधिक लोगों को राहत देने का प्रयास किया जाता है। उन्होंने कहा कि राजस्थान ने भी आपदाओं से निपटने के लिए केन्द्र सरकार के सहयोग से प्रयास किए हैं और प्रदेश के 24 लाख हेक्टेयर फसल पर प्राकृतिक आपदा ओलावृष्टि से हुए नुकसान पर 29 लाख किसानों को 2,467 करोड़ रुपये का मुआवजा सीधे बैंक खातों में वितरित करते हुए राज्य के इतिहास में पहली बार इतनी बड़ी राहत दी गई है। उन्होंने ब्रिक्स देशों के प्रतिनिधियों को विश्व के सुंदरतम शहरों में शुमार झीलों की नगरी उदयपुर के आतिथ्य को स्वीकार करने और यहां के नैसर्गिक सौंदर्य का अवलोकन करने का आग्रह भी किया।

2nd Meeting of BRICS Ministers for Disaster Management to be held in Udaipur, Rajasthan on August 22-23, 2016

The 2nd Meeting of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China & South Africa) Ministers for Disaster Management will be held in Udaipur, Rajasthan on August 22-23, 2016. The two-day meeting will focus on two distinct but inter-related themes: a) Flood Risk Management; and b) Forecasting of Extreme Weather Events in the context of Changing Climate. It is a follow up of the 1st meeting of the BRICS Ministers for Disaster Management convened by the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg on April 19-20, 2016. 

Recognizing the common challenge posed by natural and man-made disasters, BRICS countries have identified Disaster Management as an important area of collaboration. The Ufa Declaration signed by BRICS Nations at the 7th BRICS Summit on July 9, 2015 identified the need to promote cooperation in preventing and developing responses to emergency situations. The Declaration also acknowledged the fruitful discussions on natural disasters within the context of BRICS cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation. It also reiterated BRICS commitment to mitigate the negative impact of climate change. All the five BRICS countries have signed the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. They are also parties to the adoption of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in March, 2015 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in September 2015. A number of SDGs have specific targets related to Disaster Risk Management (DRM).  The country delegations to the Udaipur Meeting will be led by the Ministers of Disaster Management from the respective BRICS countries and other senior officials/ technical experts from Disaster Management Ministries/ Departments. 

The objectives of this meeting are: 

1. To share experiences on flood risk management particularly with regards to flood risk assessment, flood forecasting, early warning and emergency response; 
2. To share experiences on current systems in each country for forecasting extreme weather events -- heat and cold waves, and episodes of extreme rainfall– particularly in the context of a changing climate; and
3. To identify opportunities for collaboration between institutions of respective BRICS countries in the area of flood risk management and extreme weather related events. 

During the Ministerial Meeting in Udaipur three technical sessions with key thrust areas will be held as mentioned below:

Aniket Choudhary wins Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat contest

Aniket Choudhary, a youngster from Udaipur has won the contest for suggesting best ideas for Narendra Modi's pet 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' project that aims at cultural connect between states. Choudhary is alumni of CTAE, Udaipur and working as a Prime Minister Rural Development Fellow in Jammu & Kashmir for the last two years suggested introduction of new chapters from Class 5 in schools highlighting cultural aspects of other states and storytelling competitions about leaders of other states.  "Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat" contest was organized on MyGov, Government of India’s citizen-engagement platform, from 5th November 2015 to 25th December 2015. Citizens were invited to submit their ideas and suggestions on structuring the programme so as to encapsulate its true spirit in all its various dimensions and capture the diversity that characterises India. Aniket Choudhary from Jammu and Kashmir was adjudged the winner while Shashi Kumar Kulkarni from Pune and Tushar Khatri from New Delhi were adjudged second and third respectively. Aniket Choudhary was awarded with Rs. 1 Lakh cash prize and certificate on 6th August by PM Narendra Modi.

Aniket Choudhary is born in Udaipur (Rajasthan) and working as Fellow under Prime Minister’s Rural Development Fellows (PMRDFs) in Budgam, Jammu & Kashmir. He completed his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, from College of Technology and Engineering (CTAE), Udaipur and later PGDM from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Raipur.

Over 25 killed in two road accidents in Rajasthan

In Rajasthan, at least 25 people have been died and over 50 injured in two separate road accidents. In Bhilwara, at least thirteen people have been killed and 40 others injured in a deadly road accident in Bidnaur area. The mishap occurred when a tractor-trolley rammed into a trailer late last night. In the Bhilwara mishap, three of the seriously injured have been rushed to a government hospital in Ajmer, while others to various hospitals in Bhilwara, Beawar, and Asind, the SHO of Bandore said.

The second accident occurred when the bus driver had an altercation with a truck driver and parked the vehicle in the middle of the Sirohi-Pali-Jodhpur highway and passengers got down the bus. Another speeding truck coming from the opposite side mowed them down, Sirohi SP Sandeep Singh Chouhan said. Of these, nine passengers were killed on the spot and four died on way to Udaipur, the SP said, adding that the three injured were critical. The deceased, all males, are yet to be identified.

Navigation Canal From Kori Creek, Kutch to Jalore in Rajasthan

Shri Nitin Gadkari Addresses All India Regional Editors Conference, Says the Target is to Achieve Constrction of 30 Kms of Highways Per Day by March End and Study Undertaken for Building a Navigation Canal From Kori Creek, Kutch to Jalore in Rajasthan. While giving details of new road works undertaken, Shri Gadkari said that most of the work of Delhi-Jaipur highway has been completed and remaining work will also be completed soon. He said work is being undertaken in Uttarakhand for construction of road for easy access to Kailash Mansarovar, for which machines have been procured from Australia. He added that in order to connect Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri in Uttarakhand, 900 Kms of road will be constructed with Rs 11,700 crore investment, and the work will be completed by the year 2020.

The Minister announced that a study for alignment and environmental impact has been undertaken for building a navigation canal from Kori Creek, Kutch to Jalore in Rajasthan. It will be completed by March, 2016. He added that study is also being undertaken to determine navigable stretches of Indira Gandhi canal.  The Minister informed that on the Jal Marg Vikas, National Waterways -1: River Ganga, multimodal terminals are being developed at Varanasi, Sahibganj (Jharkhand) and Haldia. He said that the first phase of the River Information System between Haldia and Farakka has been inaugurated while in Phase II, stretch between Farakka and Patna and in Phase III, stretch between Patna and Varanasi will be covered.

Centre to support Rajasthan in building Inland Shipping Port at Jalore

Inland Waterways Authority of India under the Ministry of Shipping proposes to guide and support Rajasthan government for building an Inland Shipping Port at Jalore. The port and the terminal that are to be created, will help develop inland navigation facilities in western Rajasthan and will also bring about socio-economic development of the region. Business development opportunities along the canal for limestone, gypsum, lignite and cement factories are to be explored by the state government. The pre-feasibility report of the project will be done by WAPCOS and they will submit the same within 5 months, duly monitored and guided by Inland Waterways Authority of India.
A canal is proposed to be built between Mori creek and Jalore . This canal will be required to maintain a minimum draft of 3 meters. It is also proposed that existing cherras and rivers, like Luni may be explored for establishing connectivity from Jalore to Mori Creek. Efforts will be made to desalinate the water and use it for irrigation. This would help develop the drought resistant crops and improve the agrarian pattern in the region. The viability of saline resistant crops like soya will also be studied for improving the agricultural diversity along the canal. In addition to this there are plans to develop smart cities on this stretch. A study will also be undertaken on how to make the Indira Gandhi Canal navigable. The state government will take up the study to determine the requirements of width, cross structure along the canal, establishing vertical & horizontal clearance and bridges that need to be replaced with the cost associated with the project.

Rajasthan Mining scam: Congress demands SC-monitored CBI probe, resignation of Vasundhara Raje

Charging the Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan with violating set guidelines by giving away 653 mines to individuals on first come, first serve basis, causing a loss of nearly Rs 45,000 crore to the public exchequer, the Congress today demanded Mr Raje'sresignation and a Supreme Court-monitored probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the Mines mega allocation scam. "Rajasthan Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje gave away national resources i.e. 653 mines (equaling 1,43,253 bighas or 22085.81 hectares in area) worth Rs. 45,000 crore, to a chosen few, in absolute violation of the mandatory competitive bidding process. The Congress party demands that she be sacked immediately and a Supreme Court monitored CBI probe launched against her". said spokesperson in Congress party's press conference today. 

Terming it as one of the biggest scams in the history of Rajasthan, AICC media incharge Randeep Surjewala, addressing a joint press conference along with Rajasthan PCC president Sachin Pilot and state CLP leader Rameshwar Didi, here said, ''between October 30, 2014 and January 12, 2015, the Rajasthan government, led by its Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, proceeded to issue prospecting licenses and mining leases for 653 mines equivalent to 1,43,253 bighas i.e, 22085.81 hectares with approximate auction value of over Rs 45,000 crore. This was in complete defiance of the April 12, 2012 Supreme Court judgement, in willful negation of the mandatory policy dated October 30, 2014 and the statutory obligation of allocation of mines only through auction through competitive bidding.'' Speaking on the issue, Rajasthan PCC chief Sachin Pilot said,''Malfeasance, fraud, loot, corruption and conspiratorial scams have become the hallmarks of the BJP Government in Rajasthan. We demand immediate sacking of Ms Raje, her cabinet colleagues and other officers. The Congress also demands that investigation be done by the CBI, monitored by the Supreme Court. The inquiry be completed within a fixed time frame.'' Charging the Raje Government with committing several illegalities in willful violation of the October 30, 2014 policy, Mr Pilot said, ''no prior approval of the Central Government was taken before issuing LOIs for 653 prospecting licences/mining leases. Also, no prior notification was published in Official gazette/government website/public advertisements inviting applications for grant of 653 prospecting licences/mining leases. No exploration data or details of available minerals was published. Even mining area was not notified. All this was done so that the 653 mineral mines for 22,085.81 hectares would not be subject to the process of auction through competitive bidding. Loss to the exchequer on account of this fraudulent decision is writ large.

Govt announce 98 smart cities list including 4 cities Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer from Rajasthan,13 cities from Uttar Pradesh, 12 from Tamil Nadu, 10 from Maharashtra, 7 from Madhya Pradesh ,3 each from Bihar & Andhra Pradesh have been included in smart cities list, as formally announced by the Urban Development Ministry. This is good news but surprisingly second largest city of rajasthan,  Jodhpur is missing from list. While announcing the list, Naidu said that his government’s prime motive was to enhance urban life. “Smart cities will have the core infrastructure and will give a quality and decent life to citizens. It will enable a clean environment and provide smart solutions to problems,” he told the media here. The smart city project will cover 13 crore population across 98 cities – 35 per cent of urban population. Central Government has proposed financial support to the extent of Rupees 48,000 crores over 5 years. The implementation of the project at the City level will be done by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). State, UTs and urban local bodies will also play an important role.
