Akha teej or Akshaya Tritiya Festival

Akha teej or Akshaya Tritiya is hindu festival celebrated in entire north india. It falls on the third day of shulk paksh of Vishaka Month(April – May). This year in 2009, the date of Akha Teej is April 27.
Akha teej is nirmally known for the marriges. This is main marrige season and bad practice on the day is mass child marriages even there is ban on child marrige, it still takes place in small pockets in rural areas in India. Akha Teej is also the birthday of Lord Parashuram, the 6th incarnation of Vishnu. Each moment on the day is considered auspicious. There are numerous myths associated with Akha Teej and each varies from region to region.
