A suicide bomber blew himself up in a mosque in Pakistan during Friday prayers, killing at least 45 people. The blast collapsed the mosque in Jamrud, a town near the Afghan border, and police were digging in the rubble for any survivors, said Bakhtiar Khan, a local government official. However, reports claim that around 80 people might have been killed in this dreadful attack.
Rising violence in Pakistan's northwest is fuelling doubts about the country's ability to counter Taliban and al Qaeda militants blamed for attacks also in neighbouring Afghanistan.
