Australia pulled out of the Devis cup on security reason

Australia have pulled out of the Devis cup matches on security grounds which will be held in chennai India. After Australia had issued a plea to the ITF to reconsider its decision on the venue following Aussie players’ reluctance to travel to India, the international body had on Friday rejected the request. The ITF has made it clear that they were satisfied with the security situation in Chennai for the match scheduled between May 8-10.
"The ITF Board of Directors has upheld the decision of the Davis Cup Committee regarding the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Asia/Oceania Zone Group I third round tie between India and Australia," ITF had issued a statement. According to some media reports, Tennis Australia could face a year's ban and a penalty of USD 100,000. Security reasons had, last month, caused the Indian Premier League to be moved out of the country to South Africa as the dates were clashing with those of the Lok Sabha elections. The Indian Government had expressed an inability to provide the required high levels of security for both the events simultaneously.
