Delhi will vote on 7th May, Campaigning end today

Delhi is ready to vote on 7th May 2009. All campaigning for the polls in Delhi will come to an end at 5 pm on Tuesday. And the Delhi Police has made elaborate arrangements to ensure there are no violations of the model code of conduct. In the run up to polling day on Thursday, May 7, the police will be monitoring all 42 exit and entry points to the city. “There are three observers in every constituency and along with the Delhi Police they will monitor the situation starting tomorrow at 5 pm. Any violation of the code will result in severe action,” J K Sharma, deputy chief electoral officer, said.
The observers have also been instructed to keep a check on any distribution of liquor, cash, and sweets. “If we receive any complaints regarding the distribution of liquor etc, the Delhi Police will register a case. If needed, a candidate’s office may also be searched,” a senior official at the Chief Electoral Office said.
