First Parliament Session from 1st June 2009

The first session of 15th Lok Sabha will be convened from 1st June to 9th June while President Pratibha Patil will address the joint sitting of Parliament on 4th June, the day when Rajya Sabha will also commence its session. The decision in this regard was taken at the first meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Minister P Chidambaram told reporters in New Delhi on Saturday.

At the Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister said the UPA has made a number of promises and "we have promises to keep". Newly-elected members will take oath on 1st and 2nd June and election for Speaker's post will be held on 3rd June, Chidambaram said.
