Jodhpur, known as the Sun city of rajasthan finally gets IIT(Indian Institute of Technology) Rajasthan. IIT Rajasthan is one among the new set of IITs announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. The location of the IIT in Rajasthan will be announced by the Govt. of India after completion of the formalities of land acquisition for setting up the new IIT in Rajasthan. However, in the meantime, IIT Kanpur has been designated as the mentor IIT for looking after the incubation activities of the new IIT in Rajasthan. The academic session in IIT Rajasthan will commence from August 2008. To start with, a 4-year B.Tech. programme will be offered in three branches, viz., Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering with a strength of 40 students in each branch. The curriculum, course structure and syllabus for the first year courses and the fee structure and other rules will be broadly same as in the mentor IIT i.e IIT Kanpur. The first year classes are proposed to be held at the IIT Kanpur campus and the students admitted will be relocated to the place in Rajasthan where the new IIT will be established.
So finally Name is announced and Jodhpur get IIT Rajasthan. The Union Human Resources Development Ministry has identified 700 acres at Nagore, near Jodhpur, for setting up the IIT-R campus.
IIT Jodhpur Rajasthan News:
* IIT Rajasthan to shift at MBM Jodhpur Campus from June 2010
* IIT Rajasthan will get support from France

According to me it is not a good decision at all as the Jodhpur city is not as establish to take the charge of institute like IIT.
ReplyDeleteAnd the result will be like IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati. Finally i want to say it is nothing but a Politics on quality of Education.
I agree man, Jaipur or Kota was appropriate place for IIT Rajasthan but....its all gehlot raj.
ReplyDeletei think the person is stupid who say iit shud not be in jodhpur and shud be in kota, kota is a village
ReplyDeleteWhy can't Jodhpur be the ideal location? Being the second largest city of Rajasthan and direct train connectivity to all major cities of India, flight services to Delhi,Udaipur,Ahmedabad,Jaipur,Mumbai,Jodhpur is an ideal location for IIT.Already well established institute like National Law Unoversity,National Ayurveda University, upcoming premier medical institute like AIIMS,best percentage of Chartered Accountants passing through the city, many engineering colleges, what else is needed to establish the IIT?Already IITs are in many small places from Jodhpur like Kharagpur,Roorkee,Guwahati,so this sort of distinction also gets blurred on the face of the given facts.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to develop tier 2 cities in India and this move is in that direction. Jodhpur has all that takes to house such an institue. And we dont want to just grow one city (Jaipur) in Rajasthan.
ReplyDeleteJODHOUR GAOV HAI... GEHLOT KE ALAWA KUCH NAHI H WAHAN.
ReplyDeleteJodhpur is much far beter dicision then kota and there is one more big institute M.B.M. Engineering College since 57 years.
ReplyDeletei think mbm shud b upgraded into iit......
ReplyDeletepepole who think that kota is better city than jodhpur in any fucking aspect are plain stupid.....really take any aspect
ReplyDeletejodhpur gaon hai?.........u moron have u ever seen mcdonalds, pizza hut, multiplexes, malls, NLU, AIIMS,airport, 8-9 engineering colleges, reputed medical college,5 star hotels, outlets of all major clothing brands, ayurvedic university, cricket ground where one day matches has been organised.....list wont end.......get help man
ReplyDeleteIts not all about having existance of other engg., medical and law college in city. it all about world wide recognistion of city... One of my friend mentioned the name of IIT n Kharagpur... would lyk to tell you that there is no direct foreign placement in IIT Kharagpur.... IITB, IITD, ITTM has EDGE ON THIS ISSUE over other IITs... So it would be very dfficult to attract good faculty and student if ITT will be establish Jodhpur... Jaipur is the IDEAL place for IIT..... The person who has appointed as director for IIT Rajastha also do not want IIT in Jodhpur..
ReplyDeleteIts not all about having presence of other engg., medical and law college in city. its all about world wide recognistion of city... One of my friend mentioned the name of IIT n Kharagpur... I would lyk to tell you that there is no direct foreign placement in IIT Kharagpur coz of its its presence in remote area... No company want to travel from KOLKATA TO Kharagpur by road..So most of MNCs do not visit Kharagpur.. IITB, IITD, ITTM has EDGE ON THIS ISSUE over other IITs... So it would be very dfficult to attract good faculty, student ans Oversea companies if ITT will be establish Jodhpur... Jaipur is the IDEAL place for IIT..... Even the person who has appointed as director for IIT Rajastha also do not want IIT in Jodhpur..
ReplyDeletei think u wanted to write IIT instead of ITT........anyway ur argument is good but again there is difference between kharagpur and jodhpur......jodhpur has airport ....and if you are anywhere near from rajasthan.....u know that jodhpur is very well world recognized city.....as far existence of other engg. and medical college is concerned it ensures that there are already very fine institutes and doing very good....its kinda credibility thing
ReplyDeletewell i don't know much on issue what u guys are talking about......but being an iitian i can say that as one guy was talking about foreign placement...... IIT's main purpose is not foreign placement.......its more focused on innovative research.......and that's what gives IIT an edge and thats why still IIT kanpur is most reputed in world among other IIT's ( i m not talking abt shitty ratings by magazines )
ReplyDeletei think its a very nice thinking. the persons of jodhpur won,t require to go to another city..
ReplyDeletejodhpur is emerging city in rajasthan so it is good decision to allote iit jodhpur very healthy envt
ReplyDeleteEast or west JODHOUR is the best...
ReplyDeleteJODHPUR deserves IIT...
who stupid think this is not good decision...
Friends u know that there is not a single city where both IIT and NIT are situated. so how IIT can be go to Jaipur.and being a second largest city of rajasthan jodhpur is the best location.Waise bhi jaipur me to ghsiyare engineer he tyar hote ha..to ye to achha he hua ki IIT jodhpur me aa gyi..
ReplyDeleteThree cheers to Ashok Gehlot... the man with a mission!! And within the next FIVE years IIT Jodhpur will get counted along with the FIVE major IITs of the country. Faculty does not get attracted to cities. They want a good academic environment to nourish. Jodhpur has it all.
ReplyDeleteIf you cannot believe... just wait and watch.
IIT in Jodhpur will naturally create technical pupil with innovation and social engineering espect. So, Govt. should also create environment of industrail and petroleum creativity in these area of western rajasthan with 40 % population of the state. For same scenario the best example is Dubai (UAE).
ReplyDeleteHeritage city Jodhpur **** Welcome's IIT ****
ReplyDeleteiit in jodhpur is a very good decision
ReplyDeleteiit in people is a good decision then iit in kota
ReplyDeletegreat MHRD,U hav done a wonderful job of placing iit rajasthan in a village,22 km from jodhpur. Are u all gone out of ur minds.
ReplyDeletethink of students of iitj atleast.
Village, village ! What thus do such people say, its amazing. India complete is Village, with 78% population rural and backward. The decision to setup IIT in Jodhpur is balance economical view for area of western rajasthan. Result comes after implementation of decision and planning. For eg. 4 metros of our country are fully harrased and polluted only due to pressure of setting up skyline thoughts with non vision and neglegancy of balance economy.Pleople who says that Jodhpur is village must first find her/his injected doze mind decorated with American or Japanese vision and it will be better for them to follow Mr. Rahul Gandhi who today understand mcuh what is village.
ReplyDeleteJodhpur is fastest growing City. The city will soon in coming years will be lying on "HISSAR - JODHPUR - KANDLA CORRIDOR". Such Mega Corridor will connect Haryana, Punjab & HP direct to Kandla Port of Gujarat via Jodhpur. Starting from Hissar (Haryana) it will cover deserterial area like Churu, Ratangarh, Nagore, Jodhpur, Jalore, Bhinmal, Raniwara and end point at Kandla Port. So setting up IIT in Jodhpur will benefit "Hissar - Jodhpur - Kandla Corridor" too.
ReplyDeleteJodhpur is ideal location of IIT. For deciding location of IIT in Rajasthan, we should think logically. The very first condition is that locations of IITs should cover the whole region of India. Indore, in Madhya Pradesh has already IIT, which is just 200 kms. away from Kota. What is the use of growig everything in cluster? Secondly, there is no relation between Coaching Centres of IIT and IIT itself. If this had been the case, then Coaching Centres would have been developed in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai etc. Thirdly, despite of above two logics, if IIT is opened in Kota, then whole of faculty of IIT would indulge in coaching and the basic aim of IIT would be defeated. Lastly, the Coaching Centres are destroying the basic education system. The students getting success by joining these centres are not the real brain, they cann't be successful engineers at all.
ReplyDeleteMany people call Kota as the Education Centre. Let me tell all these Jokers that Education Centre is the place where some degree is awarded. Here, in Kota you are doing nothing, spoiling one very valuable year of 95 % of young students, wasting their parent's money. Jockers, don't make the mockery of yourself.
ReplyDeleteThe upcoming "GREAT INDIAN DESERT CORRIDOR" or "HISSAR-JODHPUR-KANDLA PORT CORRIDOR" will be benefited by setting up IIT in Jodhpur.
ReplyDeletejodhpur is the best but our leaders and japur do not want to see jodhpur as devloped city

ReplyDeleteIt’s really grateful to select Jodhpur for IIT
ReplyDeletejaipur is the best place for IIT Rajasthan...
ReplyDeletejodhpur is the best place for IIT Rajasthan
ReplyDeleteJaipur is the capital of the state Rajasthan. Jaipur was the capital of the princely state of Jaipur During the British rule. From last few years Jaipur has become a developed centre for education. There are few good MBA Colleges in Jaipur City. There are some very old Universities in Jaipur like University of Rajasthan.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of research will be carried out at IIT Jodhpur?
ReplyDeleteBreeding Camels
Solar power
Predicting Sandstorms
Growing Bt crops with minimal water
Water management during draught
Human Psychology at 48 degree
Art of living (without water) etc. etc.
PhD positions open at IIT Rajasthan for all these areas.
The logo for IIT Jodhpur should depict the famous "Mave ki Kachauri". No other IIT can afford that ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think the above person is jocker at circus.
ReplyDeleteBabe you are right! It is Indian Institute of Technology for Jokers! (IITJ).
ReplyDeletesuncity iit its lools like international name

ReplyDeleteSuncity Imperial College of Engineering
ReplyDeleteiit jodhpur is a durafic decision and we should be thankful to mr.,ashok gehlot for selecting jodhpur and making it a place of national pride.
ReplyDeleteThe advantage of upcoming IIT in Jodhpur should be shared to JNV University, Jodhpur also. The JNVUniveristy Jodhpur should encourage course in Hydrocarbons, Petroleum and minersls in Department of Geology also. Good scope in Department of Geology for such research and advancment can arise in future as per favourable conditions arising in western Rajasthan.
ReplyDeleteIf the central as well as Govt. of Raj., Haryana and Guj. plan for new corridor between Ambala, Hisar, Churu, Nagour, Jodhpur, Jalore, Bhinmal, Raniwara to Kandla Port. The plan for such can boost development in economy and infrastructure in these desertarial areas. Many new industries can arise on these corridor if the plans of such are implemented. Due to availability of cheap rate land as well as man power. The six-lane highway corridor between above mentioned cities can enhance the development of the nation.

ReplyDeleteWhat is great if Gehlot sarkar selected Chief Minister's own city Jodhpur for setting up IIT and Udaipur for IIM. Rather it is so embarrassing, it can only happen in India. Shame on such politicians. There would have been endless potential if both IIT and IIM will be established at one place like Jaipur, that is the only city in Rajasthan best suited for such a proposal. These days technology and management education goes hand in hand. Just think about it, dont be selfish yaar. There is nothing great, rather it is so shameful act of our politicians.
ReplyDeleteJodhpur deserves for setup of IIT. It is very different and unique city. Gehlot must pay much attention on Jodhpur and to make it towards international city with all modern infrastructure. The 4 laning of road between bar, pali and pindwara will help in boom for Jodhpur city.
ReplyDeleteJodhpur is the best choice for IIT...

ReplyDeletewho says Kota have nothing, Kota is one of the important city of rajasthan , one of the main industrial city with all types of power plants ie. nuclear/thermal/hydro and gas, biggest fertilizer plant of asia, stone city, and biggest grain mandi of asia....what else peoples need. educational hub of india with technical university, kota open university, kota university. if IIt set here the students get lot of opportunity to get research..here....IIT go to Jodhpur because of Gehlot only, otherwise what is in Jodhpur....nothing....

ReplyDeleteIITS have a great fund of around Rs.800 crore. It also spends crore rupees on a single student in four years. They have also signed MoUs with reputated foriegn university. The technical advancement is so nice that iitians cheerish it. Afterall an IIT is an IIT. Whether it be jodhpur or any other city it will soon establish its name in the coming years.

IIT JODHPUR
ReplyDeleteSun city or Jodhpur is one the biggest and fastest growing city in India. With coming up project around the city like solar power and parks have made increase in power supply to domestic & industrial. Due to L&T projects for development of 4 lane road from Gujarat to Pali will also help Jodhpur for heavy industries and will make a way for progress and increase in employments. Govt. is also planning to make Pali to Jodhpur 4 lane or 6 lane will also help industrial corridor between Pali & Jodhpur. As the plans fulfill city will become epic commercial centre between Gujarat and north India (Delhi, Haryana & Punjab). Due to smart professionals availability in commercial and technical field will also in long terms help in human resources too. Area in city from Mandore to coming site of IIT is being classified as education valley. More over the city is also surrounded by desert and very less agriculture land will also help city in industrialization. In many neighboring states there is lack of availability of land for industries as the land is fertile and is agriculture land but in Jodhpur and around there is very less agriculture land which can be used for industries. There is very good scope for chemical, fabrication & engineering sector due the dry climate as well as for storage and logistics. The city Jodhpur is very beautiful city and due to efforts being done by state govt. and local bodies the tourism sector is also going to boom. Mushrooming real estate and buildings are sign of shelter of world class and mostly new for city. The overall scenario are showing positive signals for city to become not least than metro city.
ReplyDeletegud luk to IIT Jodhpur .. i m from KOTA and wish its success ... we are still that IIT has not come to KOTA... we will surely send some guys there also... as what we have been doing since last 20 yrs in every engineeering college in India..wishes
ReplyDeleteThe formation of IIT in Jodhpur is excellent prospectus for west India. The emphasis’s will be much fruitful by implying new diversion in petroleum, minerals, chemicals also. As Rajasthan is also largest producer of minerals resources and now petroleum products can only lay to research. Space technology & Solar power based projects has made IIT Jodhpur more important center in such jewels.
ReplyDeleteya it is nice to have i iit institute in jodhpur bt i dont like it becz i wanna do iit and i want to do iit by other city so that i can experince hostel life bt nw it is jodhpur thn i have to do it here and my dream to enjy that hostel life is nw.....
