The special branch of Rajasthan police arrested an alleged ISI agent, Mohammad Sajid (29), a resident of Lahore, from Bikaner on Sunday where he had been living under the assumed name of Lakhan Joshi for the past four years. Sajid had established a printing press and secured a few contracts from Army units in Bikaner. The intelligence department said he never mingled with the local people to keep his identity secret, and even visited Shani Dev temple every Saturday. He had a Shiv Sena membership card for 2008-10 and was having an affair with a local girl and planning to marry her soon. Information about Sajid’s presence in Bikaner was received by the special branch recently and his activities were under observation since then.
Sajid was funded by ISI through electronic money transfer to his account with Corporation Bank, Bikaner branch. He is learned to have received over Rs 2 lakh so far. The intelligence department said Sajid might have sent some classified information to ISI but his main role was to turn active at any time of conflict between the two nations.
