It is somewhat wrong with a senior leader who was the main leader behind the win in Lok sabha and vidhan sabha. Ola had won from Jhunjhunu in 2004 when party could win just four seats but there is a strong lobby trying to isolate him, which will harm the party in the long run. Although both the camps tried to underplay the entire issue, denial of cabinet berth in the Union government and elevation of Mahavir Khandela as Union minister has not gone down well with the Ola camp, which sees it handiwork of Gehlot and his supporters. It is learnt that Khandela is now being projected as the new Jat face in Rajasthan, which is a direct challenge to Ola’s hegemony, mainly in his stronghold, Shekhawati region. A Jat by caste, Khandela, is MP from Sikar, which also falls in Shekhawati region. Ola was minister of mining during the previous Manmohan Singh government but was not included in the ministry this time even though he won from Jhunjhunu for fifth time in a row. In next election Gehlot have to pay for this, he know but who cares.
