One more accident at DMRC Site, 6 injured

A day after six people were killed and several others injured in a girder collapse at a Delhi Metro construction site, six more workers sustained injuries on Monday when a crane toppled over under its weight. The crane was being used to lift the launcher for clearing the site on the elevated Central Secretariat-Badarpur line at Jamrudpur in South Delhi. The accident occurred after the booms of two other cranes that were working in tandem with this crane snapped. The accident took place around 11.30 a.m. when operations were under way to remove the debris of a massive launching girder that had collapsed on Sunday. “The process is extremely tricky as it is being done in a very congested area and involves dismantling of a launching girder and a completed girder,” said Delhi Metro Rail Corporation chief spokesperson Anuj Dayal. Meanwhile DMRC Chief sridharan visited the accident place.
