After loosing civic poles in rajasthan, now BJP is loosing base in state. It’s been over a month since Vasundhara Raje resigned from the post of leader of the opposition in Rajasthan, but no replacement has been found till now and BJP is looking for a better replacement who can bring some smile on BJP face at State. BJP not only lost all four mayoral posts in Jaipur, Kota, Jodhpur and Bikaner, it suffered the ignominy of ceding the job for the first time in Jaipur and Kota. Elections for the post of the mayor in these four municipal corporations were held directly.
From 11 municipal councils, Congress bagged six while BJP had to rest content with a mere three. Vasundhara loyalists complain that the former Rajasthan chief minister, who was forced to step down from the opposition leader’s post on October 23, was deliberately kept away from campaigning for the party in the municipal polls. In the absence of any charismatic or powerful leader to steer BJP’s campaigning, it just wilted under the Congress onslaught. Local RSS leaders, who were instrumental in having Ms Raje removed from their way, have been pushing the name of former state home minister Gulab Chand Kataria, but the BJP’s central leadership is not said to be in favour of the proposal. BJP may bring some surprising name in State.
