Rajasthan's 220 MW unit of Atomic Power generation started

The newly installed 220 MW unit of the Rajasthan Atomic Power Plant(RAPP) was synchronised for power generation today. Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar, Atomic Energy Corporation Chairman-cum-Managing Director SK Jain and RAPP Site Director CP Jhamb were present on the occasion.
This is the fifth 220 MW power unit at the RAPP and will be used as fuel, imported Uranium which has been procured under the Indo-US Nuke deal. Accordingly, the RAPP has become the first beneficiary of the nuke deal with the US. This new unit is expected to start power generation within a fortnight, RAPP sources said.
