40 People dead in Bridge collapse at Rajasthan

Rajasthan govt official said today at least 40 people are presumed to have died in the bridge collapse," senior police official Rajeev Dasot said today. The number of people presumed killed in a bridge collapse in western India rose to at least 40 on Saturday, an official said, as rescue divers struggled to recover bodies pinned under water.
The accident occurred when the bridge under construction over the Chambal river in Rajasthan collapsed on Friday. Local authorities said the bridge was being jointly constructed by South Korea's Hyundai Engineering and Gammon India since 2007. The government has launched an inquiry into the accident. Two engineers working on the project have been detained by the police.
