Rajasthan government decided to restart the Student Union election in various universities in state including rajasthan University from 2010-2011 Session. Election will start from next session as this year examinations are close in various courses. Education department will soon made announcement regarding this. Chief Minister Ashok gehlot approve the decision of conduction student union election in various universities as per Lingdoh Commitee. Student union election was Ban by High court from 2004-2005 in rajasthan.Total 24 Govternment, 8 Deemed and 16 private universities can conduct election from next session 2010-2011. to conduct election was one of election agenda by Gehlot government during election.
As per lingdoh commitee there are some restriction on candidates such as:
* Candidate must be regular student with 75% attendance.
* Minimum Marks will be decided soon such as delhi university have 75% marks.
* Age limit of 17-22, 24-25, 28 year for UG, PG and Phd student resp.
* Hand made pumplet must be used.
* Vehicle, poster and hording will be banned during election in campus.
* No criminal cases.
* Maximum expenditure allowed is 5000 in election
