Rajasthan congress today appointed Vijay Lakshmi Vishnoi from Surajgarh as state president of Mahila Congress. She will replace Mamta Sharma, who had been given a showcause notice for anti-party activities. She is also two time MLA from rajasthan.
Vishnoi had served as a parliamentary secretary in the first Ashok Gehlot government along with outgoing president Mamta Sharma. She is the daughter of veteran Congress leader Poonam Chand Vishnoi, who was speaker of the Assembly from 1980 to 1985. Her brother Sunil Vishnoi is also a Congress leader. Earlier, Mamta, a controversial former MLA from Bundi, was served a showcause notice following the defeat of the party nominee for Bundi zilla parishad president's post even though the Congress won a majority of the seats. It's been seen as a signal of more serious trouble for Mamta.
