Police probing death of French woman in Udaipur

Police in Rajasthan's Udaipur City is probing the death of a 24-year-old French woman, who was found under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room this week. Police confirmed finding injury marks on the head and neck of Anne Louise Marie, who was staying at a low-cost hotel in Udaipur. A 24-year-old French woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room at Jagdish Chowk area of Udaipur on Saturday. There were injury marks on her head and neck following which an Udaipur-based man, Dhruva Sharma, who had been in contact with the woman during her stay in the city, has been rounded up. According to the police, the tourist, identified as Anne Clouet, might have died of drug overdose as cigarettes laced with smack were recovered from the hotel room. They also claimed that Dhruva, who had criminal cases against him, had taken the woman to Pushkar from where they might have bought the drugs.
Both Dhruva and Anne, a flight attendant with Swiss Airlines, had consumed alcohol on Friday evening and they returned to the hotel room in the wee hours of Saturday, said an officer. In the morning, Dhruva and two others rushed the girl to M B Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. The post-mortem will be conducted after the arrival of French embassy officials from New Delhi. Anne had arrived in Udaipur on February 24 along with her friend, identified as Lia, a student of architecture in France. Both stayed in Hotel Nai Haveli in Jagdish Chowk area. During their stay, they came in contact with Dhruva Sharma, a resident of Bhatiyani Chohatta area and Ali Hussain, who belongs to Mulla Talai area. “Dhruva has criminal cases registered against him and is a drug addict. During preliminary investigation, we came to know that Dhruva is known for duping foreign tourists,” said Tej Raj Singh, addl SP, Udaipur. Police is looking hard to solve the murder mystry as it is related security of tourist in nation and state.
