UP B.Ed. exam cancelled after paper leak

The controversy-ridden B.Ed. entrance examination in Uttar Pradesh hit another roadblock when the test, scheduled to be held at 12 centres across the State on Wednesday, was cancelled following the leak of General Awareness Group A paper in English and Hindi. The new date for the examination has been fixed for May 19. The Government has also ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter. The paper was leaked in Farrukhabad on Tuesday. Four persons have been arrested by the Fatehgarh Police for alleged involvement in the leakage of the paper. Since the paper leaked was found to be original, the authorities cancelled the test after hectic confabulations with senior police officers late on Tuesday night.
Those arrested have been identified as Brijesh Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Sanjay Dubey and Saurabh. A photo stat and photo studio shop in the Mohammadabad area of Farrukhabad town was raided by the police who seized about 600 computerized and xerox copies of the General Awareness paper and about Rs. 11,500 in cash. Six other persons escaped.
