Delhi Mumbai WDFC to cover major cities of Rajasthan - Gehlot

Delhi Mumbai Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) to cover major cities of Rajasthan Around 40% of the upcoming Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) between Delhi and Mumbai would pass through Rajasthan, thus bringing a lot of opportunities for the development of the state. Stating this, Union minister of state for railways, K H Muniyappa said the work would start within a year and would be completed within the next five years. He said the Railways would spend Rs 700 crore on the Rajasthan’s corridor covering 545 km of rail section on WDFC connecting Bhiwari-Alwar-Jaipur-Ajmer-Sikar-Pali-Sirohi stations. Phulera and Marwar would be developed as junctions, which would be a point of loading and unloading of goods or freight, he said. Addressing media persons in presence of chief minister Ashok Gehlot, he said the land acquisition is under way and a PSU in collaboration with Japanese firm Jayaka would undertake the project.
The chief minister said that since a large part of the corridor is passing through the state, possibilities of setting up a wagon factory and other related factories should be looked into. Regarding this, Muniyappa said a proposal in this regard could be sent to the railway ministry. Calling it an important gift from the Railways, Gehlot said the state government would provide all possible help to complete the work of DFC on time. He assured that he would invite private investments and facilitate development of industrial set-ups within 150 km on either side of the corridor. Laying stress on speedy progress in construction of over bridges at the railway crossings in the state, he said that 50 proposals have been made by the state government and priority should be given to the remaining work of the bridge construction. Mentioning the pending work on routes like Banswara-Dungarpur, Makrana-Parbatsar, Marwar-Mawli-Udaipur, Bilara-Burr and Merta-Pushkar, he said that if work starts on these routes, it would be serve the interest of the people in the state.

  1. The Govt. must also look forward for corridor between - Ambala - Jodhpur - Kandla Port Corridor. It have been sought many times for 6-lane mega corridor between Ambala, Hisar (haryana), Churu, Ratangarh, Nagore, Jodhpur, Jalore, Bhinmal, Raniwara to Kandla Port. The 6-lane corridor between ambala - jodhpur - kandla port will encourage indstries on non-agriculture land and boost industries related to solar, hydrocarbons, petroleum, minerals and research of the same.

  2. Why not govt. plan for corridor between Ambala - Jodhpur - Kandla port. Such corridor if planned, which crosses mid of Rajasthan state and will encourage development for half of Rajasthan. If the govt. of haryana, rajasthan, Gujarat and central govt. together work for such corridor it will boost economy of Rajasthan as well as of the country.
