Rajasthan Govt disclose measures to promote Investment

The Rajasthan Government, on Wednesday, unveiled measures to promote private sector investment in the industry and services sectors like tourism. It also announced a township policy to catalyze investment and promote planned and integrated development. State chief minister Ashok Gehlot, who is leaving for the US, said the new industrial policy will enhance enterprise and sector competitiveness while increasing investment flow to the state. Gehlot said he would ask the NRIs from Rajasthan to assess the economic potential of the state. "We will provide every possible assistance, hassle free policies and infrastructure for NRIs to come and invest." Meanwhile, the state medical and health minister A Ahmed Durru Miyan said that the government would offer incentives to NRIs to open new medical colleges and outsource diagnostic facilities through public-private-partnership in the state. The Chief Minister said that the township policy would ensure that residential plots and houses were made available to the public at affordable prices.
The Congress Government, he said, would make easy availability of land for the projects and encourage micro, small and medium enterprises. He said the focus would be on improving business climate and developing high quality infrastructure in the state. The policy lays thrust on knowledge sectors, tourism, mining and mineral processing units, gems and jewellery and agri-business. Gehlot, with a group of ministers and top bureaucrats, will leave for the US tonight to inaugurate the third convention to be hosted by Rajasthani Association of North America (RANA) slated for July 2-5 in Melville, New York. Replete with historical cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Udaipur, Rajasthan attracted about 2.6 crore tourists from across the country and globe in 2009. The state offers business opportunities for the tourism sector.
