Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today flagged off the Jodhpur-Gandhidham Express for its maiden run on the newly converted Bhiladi-Samdari broad gauge rail route. Minister of State for Railway KH Muniappa, MP Badri Jhakhad, Jodhpur Mayor Rameshwar Dadheech and several dignitaries were present at the occasion. The Chief Minister also announced to start Jodhpur-Samdari-Bhiladi daily passenger train and biweekly Jodhpur-Bikaner Superfast as per their schedule from today onwards.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Gehlot said with the completion of ongoing gauge conversion project the target of total broadgauge conversion would be achieved by next five years. Expressing satisfaction over speedy strengthening and expansion of railway network in the state, Mr Gehlot said 40 per cent of the mega Mumbai-Delhi dedicated freight corridor would pass through the desert state and this would transform the state into a prosperous and developed state.
