Indian Boxer Paramjeet Samota win Gold in Commonwealth Games 2010. Indian boxer Paramjeet Samota defeated Trinidad and Tobagos Tariq Abdul Haqq 5-1 in the final of the super heavy weight category (+91kg) to win the countrys third gold from the boxing ring at the Commonwealth Games here Wednesday.
India’s dream run in the Commonwealth Games was furthered by the sublime punches of the lethal Indian boxers as heavyweight Paramjeet Samota beat Trinidadian Tariq Abdul Haqq 5-1 to claim the 36th gold for the hosts. A truly great day was in store for the nation’s best punchers as all of them won their bouts to take an overall seven medals from the CWG 2010 and three of which were golds. Boxers Suranjoy Singh (52kg), Manoj Kumar (64kg) and Paramjeet Samota (+91kg) garnered gold medals in the ring to make up some ground for the generally disappointing show of Olympic bronze medallist Vijender Singh, Akhil Kumar and Jai Bhagwan. These four gold medals kept India alive in the red-hot fight with England for number two spot and looked all set to go to the wire on the concluding day tomorrow.
