Golden Girl Krishna Poonia gets warm welcome in Rajasthan

Students of Rajasthan University (RU) and Kanodia PG Girls College gave a rapturous welcome to the golden girl Krishna Poonia on Friday. Despite being a holiday on account of asthami', youngsters came in droves to celebrate her victory. Rabia Shiekh, a student of IT at Biyani Girls College, who was accompanying her two friends from Kanodia said, "She has proved her mettle by winning the gold medal in athletics after a gap of over five decades. I am hopeful that this is just the beginning for our new icon, and she will continue to win more golds for India."
Students did not seem to mind waiting for over an hour for Poonia's arrival. The level of enthusiasm was so high that any car with a beacon passing in front of the college would receive a loud cheer. Finally, Poonia arrived waving to the crowd in an open jeep, accompanied by her husband and coach Virender Singh Poonia.
