Fifth arrest in Ajmer blast case

The Rajasthan Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) on Wednesday made the fifth arrest in the Ajmer blast case adding another saffron link to the 2007 dargah incident. 42-year-old Mukesh Vasani, believed to be a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker, was nabbed in Godhra in Gujarat late on Wednesday evening. The fifth person to be arrested in the case, the fourth with saffron ties, Vasani allegedly planted the bomb on the premises of the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer that killed three people and injured 30 in October 2007. With police custody of the accused granted till Nov. 9, ATS wants to grill Vasani, who is said to have been close to the attack mastermind Sunil Joshi, to get further leads in the case. Wednesday's arrest comes two days after the ATS arrested Harshad Solanki, who is known to have strong Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) ties.
