Tiger dies in fight with another in Sariska

In a set-back to the ongoing efforts to revive the tiger population here, a big cat apparently died in a fight with another in this sanctuary of Alwar district, official sources today said. ''The big cat ST-1, a 5-year-old male, was found dead in the Kankwadi block of forests along the Rajorgarh village last night'', the sources said. Prima facie, the incident appeared to be a case of fight with another tiger ST-4, which was untraceable for the past about 10 days. However, the exact cause of the death would be ascertained only after the post mortem which was being conducted by the medical board.
Recently, one tiger was killed in a fight with another big cat in the Ranthmabhore Tiger Park. The incident rendered a big set-back to efforts to revive the tiger population, which was entirely wiped out from the sanctuary by the poachers about six years ago. In the revival bid, two male and three female tigers were translocated from Ranthambhore during the past about two years.
