Defending champions Mumbai will take on Rajasthan in the quarter-finals of the Ranji Trophy according to the release issued by BCCI on Saturday. Mumbai, who topped Group A of the Super League, will travel to Jaipur for the December 24-27 game and will be the favourites against the finalist of the Plate League. Rajasthan have had a good run this season thanks to imports, former India internationals, Hirishikesh Kanitkar and Aakash Chopra, but the 39-time Ranji Champions are expected to make the semi-finals without much trouble.
Mumbai, coached by former Test batsman Praveen Amre, boast of several players who have been part of the Indian dressing room over the years like skipper Wasim Jaffer, his deputy Ajit Agarkar, pacers Avishkar Salvi and Dhawal Kulkarni, batsman Rohit Sharma, offie Ramesh Powar and all-rounder Abhishek Nayar. In the other quarter-finals, Tamil Nadu will travel to Haryana, Baroda will host Railways and Karnataka will head to Indore to take on Madhya Pradesh, the other Plate League finalist.
