Nation pay tributes to Bhagt Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru

Nation pay tributes to martyred Indian freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev today when whole nation observe "Saheed Divas" today. "Their sacrifice has immortalized them," Chairman Hamid Ansari said, observing the day when the three were hanged in Lahore prison by the British rulers in 1931. "Let us pledge to uphold the cherished values for which they gave their life," Ansari said. The upper house then observed a minute's silence to pay homage to the matrtyrs.
Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh was hanged to death on March 23, 1931. Considered as one of the most important revolutionaries of freedom movement, March 23 is marked as his martyrdom day. All attempts failed, even the members of the prisoners' families were not allowed to meet them Three of them were hanged a day before the assigned date because British officials feared a revolt from the Indians. Born in 1908 at Banga village,Lyallpura, Punjab to Sardaar Kishan Singh and Vidyavati, Bhagat singh was only 23 at the time of his Martyrdom. Even today, the heroic spirit of Bhagat is an unfailing source of inspiration to the youth of the country. His courage, spirit of adventure and patriotism are an example to one and all. This is 80th year of Martyrs day, all over the country tributes will be paid to the heroes, who fought for Nation’s freedom and sacrificed their lives. Films have been made and hundreds of songs composed to honour the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
