Nation pay tributes to martyred Indian freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev today when whole nation observe "Saheed Divas" today. "Their sacrifice has immortalized them," Chairman Hamid Ansari said, observing the day when the three were hanged in Lahore prison by the British rulers in 1931. "Let us pledge to uphold the cherished values for which they gave their life," Ansari said. The upper house then observed a minute's silence to pay homage to the matrtyrs.Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh was hanged to death on March 23, 1931. Considered as one of the most important revolutionaries of freedom movement, March 23 is marked as his martyrdom day.
