Rajasthan Govt to refer SHO burning case to CBI

Rajasthan Government has decided to refer to the CBI the inquiry and investigation into the case of burning alive Mantown SHO Phool Mohmmad by mob in Surwal village near Sawai Madhopur on March 17 evening. The decision to this effect was taken at high level meeting held here tonight under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Till the completion of the formalities for onset of a CBI investigation a special investigation team(SIT) of the CID police headed by officer of Inspector General rank would work on the case and would take efforts to arrest culprits in the case. The state government has also removed the Sawai Madhopur Superintendent of Police Vishnu Kant and kept him awaiting posting order(APO).
SHO Phool Mohammad - an officer of CI rank - was burnt alive by mob of angry villagers after self immolation by a youth in Surwal village on the outskirts of Sawai Madhopur in protest against "police inaction" in a case of killing of a woman. Youth Rajesh Meena who was protesting against police failure in arrests of culprits in killing of a woman, climbed up on a water tank along with his one associate and jumped down after setting himself afire. Agitated over the death of the youth the mob of demonstrators turned violent, threw stones at the police and set-at-fire police vehicles. Sixteen cops were injured in the arson-violence. Meanwhile, body of the deceased protester Rajesh - whose kins refused to take the body till fulfillment of demands - was sent to Kota for keeping in deep freezer in the mortuary in Kota Medical College hospital today.
