The resident doctors strike in three medical colleges of Jodhpur against manhandling of the Umaid Hospital medical superintendent and others attendants following the death of a woman in maternity ward yesterday entered the second day today. Senior faculty members and doctors from other centers have been deputed at the hospitals to maintain medical services, an official spokesman said here.
Medical Superintendent, Dr Narendra Chhangani who was roughed up following the death of Sarita(22) due to post delivery bleeding and other complications, quit his post and sought voluntary retirement from the service, official sources said. Cross cases pertaining to death of the woman and manhandling of Dr Chhangani were registered at the police station. Over 16 maternity deaths have been reported in the above hospitals reportedly due to drip of contaminated IV fluid during past three to four months.
