Gehlot favours Constitutional status for Rajasthani language

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has favoured inclusion of Rajasthani language in the eighth schedule of the constitution for its recognition as an official language. In an informal chat with UNI last evening Mr Gehlot said that the Rajasthan Assembly during our previous regime between 1998-2003, had already passed requisite resolution and now we all, including MPs from the state, will make united efforts for getting the desired status for the language from the Centre. Some difference of opinions over the issue within the state had also cropped up and that would also be addressed and efforts would be made to convince those people who did opined otherwise, Mr Gehlot said. He hailed UPA Government’s achievements during the first two years of the current term and particularly lauded social security and welfare agenda and good financial management of the Manmohan-Sonia guided coalition.
