Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot reiterated that his government was all set to release New Land Acquisition Policy, thus there was no need of agitation over the issue and therefore senior MLA and former Minister Devi Singh Bhati should also end his hunger strike in Bikaner. Mr Gehlot said,"In my budget speech in Assembly in March this year I had already announced that this policy would be implemented within three months for keeping farmers interest intact." "Even after the announcement, actions like hunger strike, sit-in, and traffic blockades over the above issue were inappropriate," he added.
The Chief Minister said UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had not only shown their concern on this issue but at the meeting of National Advisory Council held yesterday, emphasised on an integrated Land Acquisition, Resettlement and Rehabilitation Act. "Therefore, Mr Bhati should demonstrate self restrain, end his fast and save the the agitation from being hijacked by miscreants," Mr Gehlot said. Mr Bhati has been on fast, over the issue, and had been staging a dharna-hunger strike in Bikaner for past a couple of days.
