Dr Chandrabhan was appointed the president of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee(PCC). "Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved the proposal for appointing Dr Chandrabhan as president of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress committee with immediate effect," a release by Congress General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi said. The appointment of Dr Chandrabhan, a prominent Jat leader of the state, is being seen as an attempt to appease the Jat community in the state. Narendra Budhania and Dr Chandrabhan were strong nominees for the post. However, Dr Chandrabhan had emerged as one of the strongest contenders for the post. Party sources said the decision to appoint Dr Chandrabhan was influenced by the party's drubbing in the 2003 Assembly polls, largely attributed to the indifference of Jat voters, who, until 1999 Lok Sabha elections, had been the biggest vote bank of the Congress since Independence.
Newly appointed Rajasthan PCC chief Chandrabhan today said strengthening the party in the state will be his main focus. "I am grateful to the party chief and senior leaders who gave me the responsibility of PCC president," he said.Chandrabhan, a Jat leader, said that he will make sure that dignity of all the party workers and unity is maintained. We earlier suggested that in our Editorial Post " Next Rajasthan Congress President may be Jat" becomes true and Congress finally appointed Dr. Chandrabhan as Rajathan PCC to bet on Jat Vote Bank in Rajasthan which is more than 17% which decides fate as they are biggest vote bank in state.
