Amitabh Bachchan visited Ajmer Dargah

Amitabh Bachchan visited the shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer on Monday. He spent almost 25 minutes in the dargah and offered a ‘chaddar.’ Before coming to Ajmer, Bachchan had written in his blog on Sunday night: “Almost 40 years ago, when I was just about to start my work as an actor in this industry, I had visited Ajmer and had tied a thread on the filigree work that surrounds the main area... for long I had wanted to revisit and untie it, as a fulfilment of that ‘mannat’. Tomorrow if all goes well, I shall be able to complete it.” "You untie any thread, for it is difficult to find the one that was tied almost 40 years ago, and that is taken as a completion of your wish. If you want to make another wish, you tie another thread," he added. Big B says it would be a nostalgic visit.
“I was an unknown visitor then. I wait to see how it shapes up now tomorrow ... more things in life fraught with undesirability are overcome with prayer than any other...prayer, that is a dedication and belief in one such superior power that shall when called out to, hopefully deliver... I need that deliverance... and the prayer,” he posted. Bachchan reached Ajmer in the afternoon from Jaipur. He was taken to ‘Dhai din ka Jhonpra’ where he parked his car and entered the dargah through Sola khambha. He seemed relaxed and in a pleasant mood. Wearing white clothes, he took the ‘chaddar’ on his head walking barefoot all the way to crypt. He offered prayers inside and sat on the floor with folded hands. “His eyes were slightly wet when he bowed his head down,” said a khadim. He followed all the rituals of the dargah and offered flowers and chaddar inside.
