National Investigation Agency(NIA) filed a charge sheet against Sangh Parivar functionary Swami Aseemanand and seven others in the Ajmer Durgah blast case. The agency filed charge sheet in the NIA Special Court here charging Swami Aseemanand mainly with hatching the conspiracy and planning the blast. The charge sheet filed jointly against the eight accused have levelled criminal charges against them under various sections of the IPC and NIA Act, including section 302 and 307 of the IPC. Besides the Swami, other accused in the charge sheet are Bharat Bhai, Dange, Ramjee Kalsangra, late Sunil Joshi, Bhavesh Patel, Suresh Nayyar and Mehul. Of these eight accused Swami Aseemanand and Bharat Bhai have already been arrested whereas Sunil Joshi had died under suspicious circumstances in MP and other five accused were still absconding.
This is the third charge sheet filed in connection with the blast which left three people dead in the durgah sharif on October 11, 2007. Swami Aseemanand was arrested in January last and the stipulated deadline of 180 days, for filing charge sheet was due to be expired on July 20. Besides the present case, the Swami is also an accused in cases related to terror blasts in the Mecca Masjid, Hyderabad and on board Samjhauta Express in 2007.
