Shant Aharam Bapu said "Sonia Gandhi Bharat Chodo or Congress Chodo" in Raipur, Chattisgarh. Asaram Bapu was , speaking at a religious function in Raipur, Chattisgarh a few days ago, made this objectionable comments against the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre and Sonia Gandhi, in the presence of chief minister Raman Singh as per news media sources.After that Congress hit out at Asaram Bapu for his alleged remarks against party President Sonia Gandhi. They warned that Bapu's alleged remark saying Gandhi should be asked to leave India, will not be tolerated by the party. Chhattisgarh Congress spokesperson Ramesh Varyalani told PTI that the religious leader's comment on the UPA chairperson was an insult of democracy. "Gandhi is an Indian citizen and she has been elected to the Parliament by the country's voters. Such comments are also an insult to general public and he should tender an apology," Varyalani said. Chhattisgarh Congress president Nandkumar Patel alleged that Bapu, who is surrounded with controversies, is trying to incite communal feelings. Youth Congress activists burnt effigies of Bapu in several parts of the state to register their protest. Meanwhile, the popular religious leader's supporters have defended him, saying his remarks have been distorted. Bapu merely said that the Central government should stop ill-treating saints, they said.

ReplyDeleteIf Sonia Gandhi is an Indian Citizen so also Assaram Babu. As a citizen he has the freedom to express his opinion. Just because she has been elected to parliament by a few thousand people she does not represent the entire population of over 100 crore Indians. Congressmen may like to go behind her for their selfish ends but that is not the case for others. The UPA under her leadership has given the country the weakest PM, SCANDALS after scandals and a directionless govt. Under the circumstances she is unfit to call herself a leader so she should quit politics and pave way for someone else honest & sincere interested in the welfare of the country & people to takeover the party & UPA. If she does not ensure better administration of this country, just like tamilnadu where DMK is uprooted congress will have to face the same fate in 2014. Beware !!
