The CBI will soon take over probe in the mysterious disappearance of nurse Bhanwari Devi in which minister Mahipal Maderna’s involvement has been alleged. The request for handing over the case to the central agendy came from the Rajasthan government last month. The Union department of personnel and training (DoPT) on Monday issued a notification in this regard, CBI sources said in Delhi. The DoPT notification was issued under Section 5 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act. The notification has come at a time when water resources minister Mahipal Maderna’s name has reportedly figured in the interrogation report prepared by the police after questioning the two people arrested in the kidnapping case, namely Sohan Lal Vishnoi and Balia. Sources said Sohan Lal Vishnoi, a PHED contractor, has reportedly given a reference to Maderna during his interrogation.
However, inspector general of police, Umesh Mishra, said the department of personnel’s notification has not reached the Jodhpur police. He added that the CBI is likely to begin the investigation soon. The Jodhpur police has already handed over to the CBI the records of the FIR and the investigation done so far in the case. Bhanwari, 36, who was posted as auxiliary nurse & midwife at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village, around 120 km from Jodhpur, went missing on September 1. Her husband Amarchand has alleged that she was abducted at the behest of minister Mahipal Maderna and his associates. These charges have been refuted by them.
