A gang of robbers Friday uprooted the ATM of a bank in Barmer district of Rajasthan. Police said the ATM had Rs.7,50,000 in it. According to police, the incident took place near Siwana town in Barmer district, some 600 km from Jaipur. "The ATM of the State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur did not have a security guard. Some people uprooted it in the early hours of Friday and took it away," said a police officer. A policeman on patrolling duty early morning found the ATM missing and informed his seniors.
"Raids are being carried out at several places in the district and nearby areas, but the robbers have yet not been caught. Further investigation is on," said the officer. In August last year, some robbers took away an ATM of a private bank. The ATM contained Rs.1,000,000. The police later arrested four men on charges of stealing the ATM and recovered some of the money.
