Ph.D and M.Phil Research students in Rajasthan University(RU), Jaipur
will now gets scholarship of Rs. 8000 for Phd and Rs. 5000 for M.Phil
from University Grant Commission(UGC) to promote research activities
from year 2012-13 along with five other universities in India. UGC will
provide grant of Rs. 50 Crore which will benefits approx. 2500 research
students in Rajasthan University. UGC also approve additions Rs. 10000
for science students for stationary and other expenditures.
The UGC fellowship was earlier restricted only for the NET-qualified Ph.D/M.Phil students from the central universities. However, the UGC has now decided to expand the scope of the fellowship initiative by involving NET-qualified Ph.D/M.Phil students from the varsities identified as UPEs. The grant has been revised from Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 per month for Ph.D scholars and Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 per month to M.Phil scholars. A Rs 10,000 per annum additional grant will be given as contingency expense for students with science subjects and Rs 8,000 per annum for students with humanities and social science subjets. However, the enhanced amount of monthly fellowship will be dispersed only after AU authorities receiving the formal notification from UGC in the same regard.
