Gujarat
Chief Minister Narendra Modi today released BJP's manifesto for the
state Assembly elections, saying that it is a blueprint for development
of all sections of the society. The party's manifesto promises to
address the problems of urban and rural housing, water, irrigation apart
from resolving farmers' issues. In it, Modi has promised to define a
new category of "neo-middle class," those who have grown above the
poverty line but still do not come in the category of middle class. Modi
said his government will form various schemes to benefit this class who
need a helping hand.
Gujarat BJP Manifesto 2012 Highlights:
* Setting up of a Lake and Wetland Authority.
* SAUNI Yojana, which will take the waters of the Narmada to Saurashtra.
* In addition to the 22 lakh houses in the last 10 years (in contrast to the 10 lakh houses & that too in poor condition built during 40 years of Congress rule), 50 lakh houses. A special department led by the Chief Minister to execute this.
* A comprehensive approach for promotion and development of sports in Gujarat.
* Stress of forward and backward linkages in agriculture sector, where Gujarat has been shining over the last decade.
* Agriculture fair every 2 years with a special focus of integrating technology with agriculture.
* Textile Policy that will establish Gujarat as the textile hub of India and safeguard interests of the farmers. Cotton farmers do not have to be at the mercy of Government of India.
* State wide Wi-Fi network.
* Special focus on women development, enabling more and women to be a part of Sakhi Mandal and get integrated in the journey of progress.
* State Government will become guarantor for youngsters who seek loans to start new initiatives.
* Focus on milk production and how to make the process smoother.
* Increase land under irrigation.
