Rajasthan Brahmin demands EBC Reservation

Rajasthan Senior Leaders from different parties gather today in Jaipur and set a platform for new quota demands in rajasthan for Brahmins based on economically backward classes (EBCs). The annual gathering of the Vipra Mahakumbh (conglomeration of Brahmins) in Jaipur on Sunday was also the first time that senior leaders from the community from different political parties shared the dais.  Addressing a gathering of nearly a lakh, the former HRD minister and senior BJP leader, Murli Manohar Joshi asked for reservation based on economic basis. He emphasized that things have drastically changed from the time when caste based model was introduced. “The old system needs another round of assessment. We are encountering new challenges. The need of the hour is reservation that is based on economic backwardness,” said Joshi. To provide education to students from the community, Vipra Foundation announced to set up a Parshuram University in Rajasthan. The move was supported by many people and within a few minutes of the announcement nearly Rs 1.5 crore of donation was collected.
