Supreme Court frees Pak scientist Dr Khalil Chishti

Supreme Court (SC) Wednesday issued orders to release Pakistani microbiologist Dr Muhammad Khalil Chishti after being incarcerated for 18 years on the pretext of murder.  Khalil Chishti, 80, was allowed to go home following the President Asif Ali Zardari visit to Ajmer Sharif in Rajasthan and meeting with the Indian Prime Minister and other dignitaries of the ruling cabal in April 2012.  Chishti spent 14 months in an Indian jail as he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in January 2011 for killing a man after a fight in Ajmer in 1992, a charge he vehemently denies. He was found guilty after an unusually long 18-year trial during which he was put under house arrest.
