Former CM Vasundhara Raje today appointed Rajasthan BJP President. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh announced today in New Delhi. Interestingly, it was Rajnath Singh, who asked Raje to step down as Opposition Leader in 2009. However, GulabChand Kataria will be Leader of Opposition in the state assembly. Mr Rajnath Singh said that Ms Raje will be the new president of the BJP's Rajasthan unit and will lead the party in the upcoming state assembly polls. She is also expected to be the party's chief ministerial candidate for the polls. "I welcome the party's decision. BJP is a family. We all have to be together. Everyone has a role to play. We will all strengthen the party in Rajasthan," Ms Raje said after her name was announced by Mr Singh in New Delhi. Earlier, the BJP core group had met in New Delhi on Friday and sources claim that top leaders in principle had agreed on Raje's name. Raje was the chief minister of Rajasthan from 2003 to 2008.
