The
6th Great Indian Travel Bazaar ’13 (GITB), an international tourism
mart, will be organized from April 14-16, 2013 at BM Birla Convention
Centre, Jaipur. “The mart has received tremendous response,
particularly foreign tour operators (FTOs) have shown great interest.
Growing from strength to strength, the mart this year would host about
270 companies and the figure on pre-fixed B2B (business to business)
meetings is also likely to exceed 9,000 that was conducted previous
year,” said Gyan Prakash, director FICCI-Rajasthan. GITB began in
2008 with 160 buyers from 35 countries with over 2,000 pre-fixed
meetings. By 2011, the mart had grown to 230 buyers (FTOs) from 55
countries with over 7,000 pre-fixed B2B meetings.
The
Tourism Sector in India with its diverse product profile, is poised for
a phenomenal growth. In 2011, Foreign Tourist Arrivals in India was
6.29 million and the Foreign Exchange Earnings recorded was $17.74
billion. In 2011 the total contribution of Travel and Tourism to
employment, including jobs indirectly supported by the industry was 7.8%
of total employment The 'Incredible India' campaign of the Ministry of
Tourism, Government of India, the relentless efforts by the state
governments to promote tourism and the strategically crafted endeavors
by the tourism fraternity of India in the corporate sector have given
the desired thrust to the tourism industry in India. The Department of
Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of
India, and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry
(FICCI), are co-organizing the sixth Great Indian Travel Bazaar '13 - an
international tourism mart on April 14-16, 2013 at B.M. Birla
Convention Centre, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Leading national and
regional associations like Hotel & Restaurant Association of
Rajasthan (HRAR), Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) and
Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators (RATO) are supporting the event.
