A two-MT steel plant will soon come up near Baneda in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan and another bigger plant of four to six million tonnes capacity may also be granted for nearby Jahazpur town. This was informed at the meeting held between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and National Steel Corporation Limited Chairman-cum-Managing Director AP Chaudhary here today. Mr Gehlot said the Union Government has already cleared the project proposal for the Baneda plant and now the letter of indent (LoI) will be signed soon.
The proposal for another plant for Jahazpur will also be taken up for consideration on a priority basis, Mr Gehlot said. The Baneda plant involves an investment of Rs 2,500 crore and will provide employment avenue directly or indirectly to about 2,500 people, Mr Chaudhary said. Jahazpur plant if granted to the corporation, would also involve an investment of Rs 10,000 to 12,000 crore, he said.
