Rajasthan Bandh today gets mixed response across state. Rajasthan Bandh affect normal life in capital Jaipur and other major cities without affecting the emergency services while life remains normal in small towns and other cities of Rajasthan today. Rajasthan State BJP has called for Rajasthan Bandh on May 18 in protest against falsely implicating its senior leader Gulab Chand Kataria by the CBI in Sohrabuddin fake encounter case. "This is a political conspiracy of Congress-ruled UPA Government to falsely implicate Kataria in the case, so the party has decided to call for bandh on May 18," party's State General Secretary Kalicharan Saraf said. BJP State president Vasundhara Raje said at a press conference here that the CBI had implicated Mr. Kataria on bogus charges “at the behest of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot”. “We suspect that Mr. Gehlot had requested the Centre to slap charges on the Leader of Opposition as political vendetta,” she said.
About Sohrabuddin fake encounter case: Former BJP home minister of Rajasthan, Gulabchand Kataria, owner of Udaipur-based RK Marbles Vimal Patni and two policemen from Andhra Pradesh (AP) are the latest catch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. CBI has summoned them to remain present before the investigating agency on June 4. According to sources familiar with the development, Kataria, who was home minister of Rajasthan in 2005, was approached by Patni to eliminate Sheikh, who was threatening marble traders so that he could extort money. CBI has found that Kataria and Patni initially hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Sohrab and then Gujarat as well as AP policemen came into the picture. Inspector general of police, N Balasubramanyam and police inspector G Srinivasa Rao are the two cops from AP named by the probe agency. According to the sources, in 2005, after being approached by Patni, Kataria contacted Gujarat’s minister of state for home Amit Shah, who eventually executed the plan to eliminate Sohrab with the help of cops from Gujarat anti-terrorism squad (ATS). Suspended IPS officer DG Vanzara was then heading ATS. Rao and Balasubramanyam had helped Gujarat ATS to pick up Sohrab from Sangli in Maharashtra and eventually in his encounter. Balasubramanyam was earlier questioned by CBI. Sources said that Rao had helped the police in tracing Sohrab in Hyderabad before he was to leave for Ahmedabad in a bus.
