Major Surendra Poonia is AAP candidate from Sikar Lok Sabha seat

Major Surendra Kumar Poonia is  Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Sikar Lok Sabha seat in General Election 2014. Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday came out with the second list of candidates to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The first list of AAP candidates included Kumar Vishwas, Meera Sanyal and Medha Patkar. In the second list AAP declares three candidates for Lok Sabha Election 2014 for Jhunjhunu, Sikar and Kota seats.

About Major Poonia: Major (Dr) Surendra Poonia is an international medal winning sportsman,physician and Special Forces officer. He is the first Indian athlete with the rare distinction of having won medals in power-lifting and athletic events in four consecutive world championship. Major (Dr) Poonia is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (AFMC Pune) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalaya(JNV), Patan, Sikar, Rajasthan. He was commissioned into the Army Medical Corps in August 2001. He served with - The President's Bodyguard at Rashtrapati Bhawan , Special Forces and United Nation's  peacekeeping mission in Democratic Republic of Congo.
