Police Question Lalit Modi

In fast-paced developments that smacked of a vendetta against IPL architect and Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) president Lalit Modi, the police have taken him away for questioning for the alleged misuse of Rs 22 lakh of BCCI funds meant for RCA. At the time of going to press, Modi was still being questioned.
The complaint was filed by Anil Singh Shekhawat, a Samajwadi Party member, who also runs a local cricket club. Modi rushed to Jaipur on Saturday morning after the RCA staged a coup of sorts on Friday by announcing elections on February 22 even as Modi was approaching the Supreme Court, seeking directions on the elections.
After the change of government in Jaipur, it’s said that Modi’s rivals are receiving political encouragement to cut him ‘‘down to size’’. Some insinuate that he was close to the former CM; others allege the misuse of funds as they ignore his work promoting cricket in the state and building a stateof-the-art stadium in Jaipur
