Sony CEO quit over Reliance - Sony row in IPL

The CEO of Sony Entertainment Television (now called Multi Screen Media), Kunal Dasgupta, has quit the company after heading it for around 14 years. There are rumours that the reason for the abrupt change of guard at the broadcasting company could lie in Sony's sponsorship row with Big TV (part of ADAG) at IP League. The rumours gained further credence during the day as reports emerged that Sony was trying to woo Big TV back.

ADAG, which exited its Rs 137-crore, four-year deal with IPL for on-ground sponsorship, is now said to be back in the reckoning. IPL broadcaster Sony is said to have gone back to the drawing board with Big TV for its onair rights, allegedly the bone of contention between the two and one of the main reasons for Big TV to walk out of IPL altogether.
