NCP and Congress will share 22 and 26 seats in Maharastra

The Sharad Pawar led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress finally agreed on a seat-sharing agreement in Maharashtra for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. As per the new agreement, out of the total 40 seats in the state, Congress would field its candidates in 26 constituencies, while the NCP would contest from the remaining 22 seats.
The agreement can be seen as an result of the “flexible” approach taken by the Congress as it clearly did not want an repeat of the type of problems it is facing with other allies like the Lalu Yadav led RJD. The NCP on the other hand, it seems did not want to be seen as antagonistic to the Congress at this stage and would be waiting for the results before it makes its next move.
