Pro-India Afghans have carried out both the attacks," Lahore police chief Pervaiz Rathore told PTI. Law enforcement agencies has "sufficient" evidence in this regard which would soon be made public, he said. Earlier, speaking to reporters, Rathore had said with the help of other intelligence agencies there has been considerable progress in this case. "One thing is for sure that there is an Indian hand behind the attack. I must tell you that there is credible evidence of Indian involvement in the attack," he had said.
This is the first time that a senior Pakistani official has publicly blamed India for the two attacks and named "pro-India Afghans" as the perpetrators to substantiate the claim. The latest comments by the police chief contradict Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik who had on March 5 ruled out India's involvement in the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team which killed eight people and injured 20 others, including six Sri Lankan cricketers.
