Air Marshal Barbora is new Indian Air Force vice chief

Air Marshal P K Barbora, an experienced fighter pilot, was on Wednesday named as the new vice chief of the Indian Air Force from 1st June. Barbora is currently the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Air Command, the most important operational area for the IAF comprising Jammu Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Rajasthan.
Barbora will take over from Air Marshal P V Naik, who was recently named by the government to take over as the new IAF chief when the current chief Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major retires on 31st May. The government also named Air Marshal N A K Browne, the current Deputy Chief of Air Staff (DCAS) at the IAF headquarters, as the Western Air Commander in place of Barbora.
